Comme des Garcons Series 3 Incense: Kyoto Eau de Toilette

In 2002, perfumers at the Japanese fashion house Comme des Garçons introduced a luxurious collection of five unisex fragrances, Series 3: Incense, which feature magnificent chords of mystical frankincense.

The Kyoto fragrance was developed by the renowned perfumer Bertrand Duchaufour. This remarkable composition is a tribute to Japanese culture, where incense is widely used in traditional Buddhist and Shinto practices. The Kodo (Japanese incense ceremony) originated in Kyoto, where incense trees were heated at low temperatures, filling the space with fragrance without smoke.

At the heart of the Kyoto composition are coffee notes, which gradually transition into relaxing woody accords, highlighted by cool incense. It is completed with touches of vetiver and patchouli.
