The male fertility test is designed to measure sperm concentration and serves as an auxiliary tool for diagnosing and subsequently treating male infertility. These tests are intended for self-administration at home by the patient (i.e., self-monitoring).
The SP-10 test helps determine whether the sperm concentration (in a human semen sample) is within the normal range. A positive test result indicates that the sperm concentration is normal, while a negative result suggests that the sperm concentration is below normal. A negative result may imply infertility and could warrant further diagnostic evaluation.
Before conducting the test, it is important for the patient to abstain from any sexual activity for 3-7 days. This ensures that the volume and quality of the semen are at their highest possible levels, allowing the test to accurately determine sperm concentration.
Results should be read 5 minutes after processing the sample. Do not read the results after 10 minutes. It is essential to ensure that the collected semen does not become contaminated through contact with hands, tissues, or other materials. Any errors made during the test can lead to inaccurate results.
