In 2009, Tom Ford introduced the woody-spicy fragrance for men, Grey Vetiver, in an Eau de Perfume concentration. By 2014, the house unveiled its new, fresher, lighter, and brighter version - Grey Vetiver Eau de Toilette. Tom Ford described the new scent as the olfactory equivalent of a dark blue blazer, a fine watch, or brogue shoes.

The creator behind this citrus-woody composition is perfumer Harry Fremont. The fragrance opens with citrus notes of winter lemon, grapefruit, bergamot, and fleur d'oranger. The heart encompasses aromatic chords of Thai basil, complemented by orris root. The scent concludes with a base of vetiver, amber-woody notes, oakmoss, and musk.
