According to one version, the Mitsouko eau de parfum was named after a beautiful Japanese woman - the main character of Claude Farrère's novella "The Battle." Following the fragrance's launch in 1919, many European fashionistas, captivated by its mysterious and enigmatic scent, became fascinated with Japanese culture and traditions.
The initial citrus notes of bergamot intertwine with the rich floral scents of noble rose and pristine jasmine, which, slightly receding into the background, give way to the heart notes of lilac, peach, jasmine, ylang-ylang, and rose. The base notes consist of amber, cinnamon, oakmoss, and vetiver, creating a delicate trail that envelops the wearer like a veil of mystery. In this composition, it's challenging to separate and highlight any primary notes, as they all harmoniously blend into a beautiful perfumery symphony.
