TESTER - A tester is a demonstration version of the fragrance provided by manufacturers with a batch of products for advertising purposes at the point of sale. The difference between them is merely that since testers are produced for advertising purposes, the manufacturer does not package them as carefully: they are offered in what is called technical packaging (a simple cardboard box, different from the one used for retail bottles) and often do not include a cap.
