The metabolism of S-adenosylmethionine supports the synthesis of glutathione (GSH) and glutathione-dependent enzymes (glutathione peroxidase and glutathione-S-transferase), which are components of the body's endogenous antioxidant network and are of great importance for liver function, including phase II detoxification.
