The third fragrance in the "Revenants" collection, Terror & Magnificence, draws inspiration from the works of architect Nicholas Hawksmoor (1661-1736), whose somber structures slice through the London sky. Hawksmoor is dubbed the "architect of the devil." The churches he designed, incorporating elements of Egyptian architecture, continue to captivate the attention of London's residents and visitors to this day. These intriguing architectural details and his affiliation with the Masonic order have fueled speculation that occult symbolism is embedded in his design principles, creating an aura of "terror and magnificence" around his creations. Playing with contrasts, perfumer Pia Long has crafted a vivid olfactory portrait of the architect, his works, and the myths surrounding them. Accords of Somali frankincense, dry wood, and wet stone with opium smoke, papyrus, and kyphi (Egyptian incense) are elevated on a foundation of Haitian vetiver, labdanum, benzoin, and myrrh.
