  • Properties and Uses of Myrtle Oil:

Myrtle essential oil boasts intriguing properties: it is antibacterial, cleansing, and balsamic, helps clear the respiratory tract by thinning mucus and acting as an expectorant (facilitating the removal of phlegm).

As a result, it aids in better breathing and alleviates discomfort associated with colds and cough.

When diffused into the environment, it exerts a toning and antidepressant effect and can also be used preventatively to ward off seasonal afflictions.

For this latter purpose, it's necessary to use a drop of oil per square meter of the room you wish to diffuse the essence in, preferably in the evening before sleep, to benefit from the vapors throughout the night.

It can be used for coughs, colds, or flu by mixing 2/3 drops with a teaspoon of sweet almond oil (or another carrier oil) and then massaging onto the chest before sleep or several times during the day.

In this way, the balsamic aroma of myrtle can be inhaled over a long period, helping to soothe inflammation in the respiratory tract, clear the nose, and calm coughs.

Alternatively, you can prepare classic steam inhalations with myrtle essential oil: pour 2–3 drops of this essential oil into a pot of boiling water and inhale the steam, covering your head with a towel for a few minutes.

This gentle essential oil is also suitable for children, but always those over the age of 3.

It can then be used as an antibacterial agent, particularly in cases of cystitis or for cleansing oily skin or acne.

For this last purpose, you can dilute a few drops of myrtle oil in your face cream.

AN EXCELLENT BASE FOR DIY PERFUMERY AND COSMETICS.
